Guide to Getting a Full Bond Refund When Moving Out

As your premier removalists on the Sunshine Coast, we are here to help you move to a new house, as well as to give you advice on things that help you with the process. Getting your bond refund is one thing that you would like to happen and there are some things you can do to ensure that you do. When you’re ready to move, contact Caloundra Removals & Storage and we’ll help you every step of the way. In the meantime, check out these tips for getting your bond refund.

Take Care with Your Initial Condition Report

When you move in, make sure you properly fill out your initial condition report. This will play a part in your final inspection and can influence whether you get your bond refund or not. When you arrive, make sure you note down any damage in your condition report, even if they seem minor. That way they don’t get worse and then deducted from your bond refund. Mention any issues at your final inspection.

Clean Thoroughly

You must do your end of lease clean before you can expect to get your bond refund. Use your initial condition report and make sure the property is in the same condition it was when you moved in. Once everything has been removed, you can go room by room and clean well before turning it over to the owner. If you prefer, you can hire a cleaning crew to tackle this job for you

Know How it Works

Make sure you know how the bond process works in your state, which may be different from other states. Do some research on how the entire system operates so that you understand what is expected from you and what you can expect from the property owner. Knowing what might get in the way of your bond refund can help you take steps to make sure that doesn’t happen.

How long does a bond refund take?

You probably want to know how long it will take before you get your bond refund back. This varies by state and can take as little as 2 to 3 days, or as long as 14 days. It’s a good idea to get an idea of how long you can expect to wait so you can look for your payment if it hasn’t arrived on time.
